So it’ s been too long since the last post. Drew and I have been drowning in closing costs, paperwork, and home improvement projects. We closed on the house on December 4th, and have been frantically working to get the place livable. After ripping out some nasty smelling carpet and a few late night painting parties, we’re almost there. Well, we’re living in it still, even though it’s not quite livable. We’ve got the master bedroom all done, and we’re sleeping there with our ghetto mismatched furniture. The rest of our furniture is in the living room, in some random haphazard configuration, on top of the concrete sub-flooring. Nothing says home sweet home like cold concrete on the feet.
We did pick up the Pergo laminate for the living room today, and after a few days of warming up, we’ll install it. I spent most of today unpacking the kitchen that we transported over yesterday. I’m trying to be optimistic, as all the plates, cups, and silverware are put away. It just doesn’t look like I’ve made much progress, as there’s random pieces still strewn everywhere. We’re still not out of the duplex yet either, and the amount of stuff left to be packed up there is quite overwhelming.
So, with about as much fun for one day as I could handle, I packed up my laptop and headed to Redeye for a cup of tea and some internet. Drew’s at guy night tonight, and I hope he’s wrangling together some help for installing the laminate flooring.
I do have lots of pics, most of which are on our photo website. A few are still on my camera, including the ghetto window covering that Drew concocted for the living room window so that neighbors won’t peep at me in my robe while I’m enjoying my morning cup of coffee. I’ll post those soon, as I’ve been told that these are the moments that the best memories are made of. In the meantime, here are a few of the transition pics. Enjoy.

Jaim, it looks AWESOME! I wish I was there to help paint. You’re so close…hang in there. Don’t give up yet, even when you’re drowning in your own posessions (for living out of suitcases as long as we did, isn’t it amazing how much stuff has accumulated? Sheesh!). I love the color scheme. Did you have fun choosing your palatte? I took forever and then ended up with cream for the living room and kitchen. It turned out a pale yellow, which I love. Still plotting what color I want for a few other rooms…master bedroom is the next task. I’m saving up projects for the dead of winter. 🙂
LOVE YOU!
